numbness

ok little bout me i just got dx with cm about 2-3 months ago with a 7mm opening still dont know much about it i also have fibro and osteo arthritis
  i went to doc cause of my right lower side of my face is kinda numb its like i can feel like if its fallin asleep an starting to wake up but i still have movement doc thought i had MS so he did MRI and thats when i got dx with chiari well now on my left thumb and left middle finger has the same sinsation an my doc wont listen to me
is anyone else having weird numbness like this? whats really weird is im right handed and whats more weird is it wont go away its always there

I have nbness in both hands. I call it the pins and needles effect.  My docs don't listen either. One actually sent me to pr for carpyl tunnel.  Lol.  I am not sure what to tell u. Other than u are not alone.  Just jeep telling ur doc. They will eventually step off their high horse. And listen. Or at least refer u to so
e one else.  Good luck

Hi a CINE MRI is a MRI that is a study of ur Cerebral spinal fluid=CSF....if it gets blocked we have more symptoms...and it can cause a syrinx to form.

U may need to travel to get to a chiari dr, I did ,....and it is well worth the traveling...plus, there r orgs out there that help with flights and even special locations to stay at lower rates.

Size of the herniation is not the main issue, it is if u have a CSF blockage...and overcrowding....plus what ur current symptoms r.

Stay away from chiropractors...until u know what is going on...and make sure the chiro knows about chiari and not to manipulate ur neck...which is the area we all want done...but should not.....but over all it is best to stay away from chiros.

what is a CINE MRI  and what is CSF blockage? im like all new to this
  ive been dx with fibro since 01 but before i got dx a doc had touched my back it hurt so bad i accidently punched him in his nose they had figured i have had fm since i was around 16 due to me going to docs with unexplained pain at that time
  i live in a state that doesnt have a chiari specialist and a small town that the docs dont even really know anything about it except all they can tell me is i cant pick my 3 yr old up cause it seems like everytime i strain my muscle i get headache an when i get headache it causes something to squeeze and it can cause me 2 stop breathing but they tell me the rest of my probs isnt from the chiari but from reading things ppl on this site have wrote i know the docs r full of it so this is one of those things i have to educate myself on and find out dues an dont untill i can get to a doc which i will have to drive to nearest city 140 miles away

   does anyone have any advise? is there any do's and donts? what is the difference on the size of it cause what ive heard it doesnt matter the size everyone sounds like they having pretty much some prob
  my pain is on my right ive even had all my surgerys on my right but everything nerve related except my face is on my left including back and neck
  has anyone gone to a chiropractor? do they help r should chiarians stay away from them?

   and if im not on much r dont talk much its cause i am in such a small town i am still using dial-up that should tell u how small a town we dont have any other option so sry if i dont interact much it takes awhile just for this page to load  that is also y i write alot in one thing so also sry about that peeps i just try to get it all in at 1 time

Many times....chiarians r mis-dx'd with fibro....

Have u had a CINE MRI to see if u have a CSF blockage and overcrowding?.....

Hi Boogiesmom,

I was just dx in May of this year - I'm at 8mm.  I have tingling from my left ear across my whole left cheekbone & jaw, everything still works, just feels funny.  I also get tingling in some of my fingers that comes & goes.  I'm not sure if it's the cm or the syrinx.  I have my first meeting with an ns this coming Thursday.

I don't know how left/right handedness plays into any of it.  But, I'm also right handed.  My neck pain is more pronounced on the right side.  It seems the majority of my symptoms are on the left side.  Although, two days ago, two toes on my right foot went completely numb.  Felt like there was a hair wound tight around them & cut off all feeling.  Only lasted a few hours though.
