Eating problem

Eating problem

My daughter is 18 months old and I think she has an eating problem. She doesn't chew her food and she just swallows them. Sometimes, when she gets something hard in her throat, she would get sick and vomit everything. She likes pasta a lot but she wouldn't have rice and vegetables to chew when she is eating. I have to give her mashed food most of the time. When I try to give her finger food, she wouldn't take them and if she does, she won't chew but just swallow again and then vomits afterwards. Sometimes, she would have a piece of toast or bread but when she is having teething problem, she would stop taking them and would just swallow her food. When the teething stops, she would just continue to swallow instead of chewing her food.

At her age she should be able to chew and swallow successfully. She should be evaluated by a Speech/Language pathologist to investigate her oral motor functioning. There may be a problem that interferes with her ability to chew.
