back vertebrae and neck

i went to a chiropractor today that was having a promotion for a discounted 1 hour massage (which was good) and a free xray chiropractic evaluation. i really just went for the massage. in the xray it showed my neck vertebrae as straight rather than curved, and 4 vertebrae in my back that were out of alignment pinching a nerve or something to that effect. i have no pain whatsover in my neck or back. the doc says i should get these things fixed before any problems arise and should in come for treatment twice a week for 3 weeks then look at xrays again. i also mentioned that i had testicular cancer a year ago and he said it was probably caused by the nerve signals from the brain getting blocked or something, which sounds a little crazy if you ask me. anyways i wouldnt mind going for a few weeks if my insurance covers it but should i even do it at all? maybe everyone has things out of alignment and it shouldnt be corrected at all and it will just cause issues that i dont even have now. i also dont want to go for a few weeks and correct the issues and then have to go back after that to maintain it. advice???

In my opinion, yes, you should get this taken care of... Misaligned spinal vertebrae, particularly within the neck, are not something you want to sweep under the rug or put off till later.

I'm not surprised that you don't have any pain right now - it can take decades before that happens; and when you do start finally start hurting, it could be too late to correct. So if you're made aware of it now, you have the luxury of choosing to do something about it.

That being said, I have a difference of opinion on the recommendation you were given. Getting x-rayed 3-weeks after starting treatments isn't something I'm too keen on, unless the doctor's technique is x-ray dependent (less than 5% of chiropractic adjusting methods are...).

If it's a full-spine chiropractor (DCs who manipulate the entire spine), then a 6-month follow up x-ray sounds more reasonable. If it's a NUCCA/Grostic/AO upper cervical chiropractor (DCs who only adjust tjhe top two bones of the neck), then 3-weeks is not uncommon (in fact, 3-hours is more likely).

Regarding your history of testicular cancer. While I do believe that body will malfunction as a result of nerve interference, telling a person that their testicular cancer was "probably caused by it" is rather bold and highly suspect.
