Pulmonary function testing

Is it possible to suffer a heart attack during a Pulmonary function test? My dad is hypertensive and is scared to get one ordered by his pcp at VA hospital.

It is possible to have a heart attack any time but very unlikely to be caused by performing Pulmonary Function Tests.  If however, your father has severe hypertension, that is not well controlled or any abnormality of heart function associated with high BP, he may want to confirm with his PCP that the administration of a bronchodilator during the performance of the test, does not pose additional risk for a sudden rise in pressure or for abnormal heart rhythms.

Good luck
