father had bypass surgery and still complains od chest pain

my 81 year old father had bipass sugery in dec 2008 and still complains of chest pain. tests showed thining of artery but doctors say that this should not be causing the chest pain. tests  Dad also has high blood pressure and diabetis which are under controled with insulin and medication. does any one have any idea what can be causing this problem or is it because he is still healng? please help

Hi,
The chest pain could be due to many reasons. It could be due to the blockage of the coronary vessels (although the chances are less with the recent bypass). For ruling out the same, a coronary angiography should be done. The other possibilities are muscular chest pain, pain from the sternal sutures (although this shouldn’t last that long).
