"As Republicans put it, they would raise $800 billion in new revenue through tax reform, $600 billion in health savings, $200 billion from changes to the Consumer Price Index, $300 billion in discretionary spending cuts, and another $300 billion in savings in mandatory spending. Many of the health savings track closely with the changes to Medicare first proposed in Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan’s budgets.
Republicans say the plan, using the Obama administration’s math, would achieve $4.6 trillion in savings.
It’s unclear, though, whether the Republican plan would move toward ending the stalemate around the fiscal cliff negotiations, with less than a month remaining until the automatic tax hikes and spending cuts are scheduled to snap into place on Jan. 1."

I hope you're right...because if not, that's not good and everyone loses...but I have to say, if this second term is going to be more of the same from the 1st, I'm very aprehensive. He's going to have to dig deep to turn this around.

Whats to discuss? It was shot down as most of us expected. I have no hope that either side is willing to be reasonable.
I honestly, sincerely don't understand, with Obama entering his second term, how he's blameless for the state of this country?
How can you guys say that and believe it? Where is the accountability? EVERY administration plays a part in our current state of affairs. I can understand that sentiment in his first term...but he's following 4 years of his own policies now.
He started "fixing" things the way he wanted...and our economy is even worse now. That's not to say I blame him for everything, but yes, he most certainly is accountable for part of it!

Not true at all. I hold the President accountable when necessary. As for the wars and the crashing economy, NOPE he is NOT responsible...Libya, Yes, he is responsible because the buck stops with him. Now I will give him credit for: saving the economy, ending the war in Iraq, getting the war in Afghanistan under control, bringing the housing market back, and WINNING RE-ELECTION....There's more but you guys n the right would dismiss it and focus on what you think he has done wrong....
