Adderall

Adderall

My 6 year son is on Adderall (adderrall) for ADHD.  His teacher has noticed a significant difference in him because he now stays in his seat and is able to concentrate.  At home, however, he continues to act very hyperactive and disruptive to our family.  We only give him 10mg at 7:30 in the morning.  How long does the adderall (adderrall) last and will it not calm him down?  I am concerned about giving him an additional dose in the afternoon because of the possible sleep side affects.

Adderall is a short-acting medication. It is meant to be given two-three times a day to benefit from its effect most of the day.
For some reason, your physician chose to prescribe the medication once a day. I suggest to consult the physician and discuss the possiblity of increasing the frequency of the medication.
If you are worried about the sleep side effects, he can take a dose at noontime so the medication has time to wear off by bedtime. But please consult your physician before any changes to the medication is done.
