Celexa

I'm just wondering what the reports are about
the anti-depressant called Celexa.  I've just started
taking the medication.  I heard from my doctor that it was in Europe for 9 years and has been in the U.S. for a year.

Diane,

I am not sure if you had any specific questions about Celexa (Citalopram), which is the newest Serotonin-Specific Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) in the United States. As you rightly stated, it has been in use in Europe for many years, and has more recently been approved by the Food & Drug Administration, for treatment of depression in the United States. Its mechanism of action, efficacy, and side effects are generally similar to other SSRIs such as Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft.
