Fluoxetine and Hallucinations

My partner has been taking fluoxetine for 4 weeks for depression. This depression has stemmed from a bad incident in her past. Since she's been taking them she has become more and more distant and she confide in me last night that she was seeing the person who hurt her in other peoples faces, including mine. It's only certian people she see's it with but it is causing her to push people away. I have asked her to go back to the doctors but she refuses to saying it's just a side effect of the tablets.

Is this a normal side effect? If so how long does it last? Is there anything that can be done to help?

That is definetly not a side effect of the medication,..it is more an underlying cause of her problems that has to be understood and worked over in therapy.
