Panic Attacks

Panic Attacks

I recently had gallbladder surgery, and was diagnosed with many food allergies.  Since the surgery I have had these attacks where I feel sick, get dizzy, shaking, sometimes feel like I am going to pass out.  I thought it might be because I get hungry, but the attacks and coming closer together and more severe than before.  I am afraid to go anywhere or do anything for fear of this feeling I keep getting.  Can you tell me if these are panic attacks?  I also have been diagnosed with IBS, and have started taking remeron.  Will this help if it is indeed panic attacks.  Help.  I feel like I am living in help and starting to get really depressed.

The fact that this started after your surgery would make me suspect there might be a relationship and you should be sure to talk to your surgeon or internist about that possibility.

Once those symptoms start, it is reasonable to be afraid to leave the house. But that, although it is a common symptom of anxiety and panic, may not be because of panic.

I suggest you have an evaluation with a psychiatrist who can sort this out with you.
