SSRI's and Itching.

SSRI's and Itching.

I was on Trazadone for about four years to help me sleep.  It stopped working, so  my doctor recently started to treat me with SSRI's.  Started with Celexa, then Lexapro and now Zoloft.  I've itched on all of them usually right after taking them.  Zoloft being the worst.  My doctor said I can take Benedryl.  Will the itching taper off as my body gets accustomed to the SSRI's or will I have to stay on Benedryl for the duration of being on an SSRI?  I've read on-line that it is the SSRI's that increase my anxiety and therefore I itch.  I remember a few years ago taking Paxil and not having this side effect.  Would going back on the Paxil be an option? or am I just ruined for taking SSRI's? I'm also taking a low dose (1/4 of a 50 mg pill) of Seroquil for sleep.

I think you should try the Paxil...each of the ssri's are a little bit different, and that difference might be enough to avoid the itching.

the itching will go away once your body gets used to the drug. i just tried every over the counter cream for itching until i found the right one for me. gold bond, lanacane, dermaplast and sarna were the best. if you can't find one of them, cvs.com usually has them.
