weaning off effexor xr75mg

today i called my dr, and said that i want to discontine taking effexor   xr75mg. he told me to take it every other day. i been on it since dec2001. i thought i would be told to take a smaller dose. is this right advice?i have 14 pills left

I have been on effexor xr 300 mg for 7 months and I am on day four of quitting cold turkey. I am still feeling dizzy when i stand up but the depression is over, I know you are to get off slowly but I would just rather get it over with. I was on ativan and quit cold turkey in october and it only took about five days, I am quite surprised how well I am doing with the effexor withdrawal. Yesterday was hell but today there is light at the end. good luck
