How long after primary herpectic gingivostomatis is contagious?

by Sammyel, Sep 21, 2009 09:36PM
About two years ago my boyfriend of three years had a coldsore outbreak and ofcourse never told me until i noticed it. Since the three years he has only had three and everytime i avoided kissing him or sharing drinks with him. Well about three weeks ago i had my first primary herpectic outbreak. He had no sign of a coldsore so who knows how or when i got the virus. I would like to know when the virus is no longer contagious? My doctor gave me antviral medication and all the sores in my mouth and gums are gone. Its been about three weeks since my outbreak. It looks like one of my gums is a little red but not sure if its always like that. Maybe just being paranoid.
