suspicious mole, very scared

suspicious mole, very scared

Hi,

I have a mole that isn't looking so good. It is 1 cm large and located in my pubic area. It has been there for more than 10 years but in the last years it seems that it grew bigger and lately developed a pink/flesh bump on one margin. The rest of the mole is smooth, flat and it has a brown-grey color. No black color on it.
I've checked it with my doctor and she thinks it may be cancer but she insisted that it is not any rush to take it out as I am going on vacation in two weeks. She thinks that I should wait and remove it after i am returning from vacation.
Is it safe to wait for so long to remove this mole?
And, could this be cancerous as it has hair growing out of it?
Is it possible to be melanoma?

Hi,

The typical signs and symptoms of a melanoma are - ' Asymmetrical skin lesion, irregular border of the lesion, multiple colours, moles greater than 5 mm are more likely to be melanomas than smaller moles, change of a mole or lesion may be a hint that the lesion is becoming malignant or elevation.'

You could read more about the condition at the following link -
' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanoma'

Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions and it would be best to consult your doctor for a clinical examination.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and post us if you need any other information.

Regards.
