Sick Dog

We have a 11+ year olf pitbull/boxer/lab mix. A couple weeks I came home from work and his back legs were barely working. He was walking on the top of his feet. We took him to the vet- they gave us prednizone (steriod) which has helped. We are now close to the end of his dosage. Yesterday he was throwing up the entire day (all but 1 time was water and bile). He has stopped throwing up but will not eat (even treats) and barely moves around. Does anyone have any helpful insight on what might be going one besides age?? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!

Did your vets explain what they thought the cause of his not being able to walk properly was? And was the Prednisone given for an inflammatory condition?
Just trying to trace whether your dog's sudden sickness could be caused by the initial illness or disorder -or whether it may be a side effect of his medication.

Prednisone can occasionally cause inflammation in the pancreas, stomach, and kidneys. This usually happens with long-term use, and I would have thought that a two-week course didn't constitute "long term use" But you never know.
I would ask your vet to run some blood tests, to check his Pancreas, and kidney function
