The Bain of having female dogs...dead grass!

The Bain of having female dogs...dead grass!

I have two female dogs...one is about 4 years old and the new puppy is 7 1/2 months.  They are both female and after going out and starting to clean the backyard I have come to the conclusion that it is unlikely that we will ever have green grass again!

I have heard here and there that adding powdered milk to the dogs diet will neutralize the acid in their urine and stop it from killing the grass.  However, I have no medical background and don't want to try it without being sure that it won't hurt them.

Does anyone else deal with this problem and if so do you know what, if anything, I can do to keep the dog urine from killing my grass?  I have a very small yard and little grass to begin with so I would like to save the little of it that I have!

Thanks for any help offered!

There may be the perfect solution for you.
Have you heard of DOG ROCKS?
They are little rocks, made of Zeolite, which you add to your dog's drinking water. They are advertised as all-natural, not harmful to your dog, and apparently they have been tested thoroughly on dogs and puppies. The Zeolite neutralizes the nitrogen in a dog's urine. It's the nitrogen which 'burns' the grass.
Apparently, Dog Rocks don't alter the acidity/alkalinity of the water either.

I think they are from an Australian company, but google DOG ROCKS and see if there are any retailers nearer to you. Your Pet store may have them too.

I've never used these, don't need to because my dog has hundreds of acres of farmland to pee on! But from what I can make out, they sound ok.
