I have a 14 months old dog. He was four months old when we got him. Till then he had been with his mother. The problem I have is that he won't stop suckling. he will get part of his soft toy in his mouth or the corner of a pillow and start to suckle and at the same time he massages the area with his paws. he also whimpers and cries when he does this. It is very upsetting and I don't know what to do . Has anyone else had this problem with their dog and does anyone have any advice please.
I am interested to see what kind of responses you get. I have never heard of a dog doing this! I know that it's VERY common in cats, especially in cats that were weaned too early, but I never knew that it was a behavior that could also occur in dogs.
