Is this Endometriosis?

Is this Endometriosis?

When I left for college, three years ago, I stopped taking birth control and my periods were perfectly normal.  This past month however my period started (or so I thought), but only lasted for two days and it was incredibly light.  It was during finals week so I just thought it was stress.
Over my winter break however my period never stopped.  For about three weeks it was a continuous unpredictable period.  It would be a moderate flow for a few days then "stop", but then the next morning I woke up with blood staining my pajamas.  The blood was usually light and a light redish-brown color, but as time went on it got to be more of a bright red color.
It finally stopped for about 5 days when break was done, but Monday I came home from class and there was bright red blood in my underwear.  Now it's incredibly heavy with bright red blood and darker "clumps".  This is the normal time for my period, but it's never started off so heavy and with these dark red clumps.
I know that I should definitely see a doctor, and I'm hoping to get in soon at my college's health center soon, but I am very concerned about this and I was hoping someone here would be able to help out a little.
Please help and thank you for responding!

If that is your only symptom, I would guess it is not endometreosis. Usually when you are having heavy periods lasting 5-7 days with clotting (I believe that is what you refer to as clumping), it could be an indication of a fibroid tumor. Or it could simply just be related to having just gone off the birth control medication???  But, I would definitely have it checked out by you gyn/ob. I was diagnosed with endometreosis when I was 21 yrs old and for at least 4-5 yrs prior, I was experiencing very heavy periods, always lasting at least 5-7 days, along with severe cramping each month and clotting (some months worse than others) along with back pain and some major PMS. However, in my case my periods were like clockwork, every 28 days. Then one month besides the usual regime as I just mentioned I was having some horrific stabbing pains that literally had be doubled over!  The stabbing pain started below the abdomen and radiated through to my back and was excruciating! That's when I went to the doctor to find out what was going on. This was 24 yrs ago so I'm not sure if I was diagnosed on the spot or if I had to wait to get an laparoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.  Anyway. you definitely need to see your doctor ASAP, and if it is related to fibroids, you really don't need to worry that much since they are benign (non-cancerous). Or so I have been told. Good luck to you!
