Could my daughter get shigellosis several times?

She has has had Shigella twice in the past 6 months.  She came home awhile ago with severe stomach cramping and diarreah (diarrhea) and felt very clammy.  She holds her stomach and bends over to relieve the pain.  WE practice good hand washing and don't understand where this could be reoccuring from.  Could it be something else???

Hi,
Though recurrent shigellosis can occur, the symptoms of abdominal cramp and diarrhea are non- specific. They can occur due to many other organisms and conditions also.
Hence I would suggest a proper evaluation be done by her Pediatrician.
