The doctor has given me prilosec for this condition. I had the procedure where they put the pipe down your throat and examine your esophagus and stomach. Is this enough medication?

Hi rontiss1,
There are three types of hiatus hernia.
Type 2 and 3 usually produces symptoms and require surgery.
Type 1 is usually asymptomatic and surgery is done ony if it is assocaited with symptoms.

Hiatus hernai may be associated with GERD and it may require PPI.

You might be having asymptomatic hiatus hernia and features of GERD. Thats why your doctor have prescribed PPI.

He has done upper GI endoscopy for evaluation.
