Should I have my gallbladder removed?

I have been having attacks of pain in my upper middle and right side for a few years now. I have had ct scans, ultrasounds, and a hida scan, but the results are all normal. Based on my symptoms my gastroenterologist has referred me to a general surgeon. Should I have it removed?

You should get a Endoscopy and Colonoscopy to rule out or confirm other possibilities, but there is no need to remove your Gallbladder if you don't have Gallstones and a good HIDA result.

Please let me know how you are doing and don't agree to Surgery, unless proven necessary.

Will the surgeon do a endoscopy/colonoscopy before wanting to remove it?

Hi there,

Did any of the scans reveal that you have Gallstones?  If that is the case, then yes, you should get your Gallbladder removed.  But ONLY if you have stones.

Don't you think you should find out what's going on before you remove anything? What if it's not your gallbladder that's causing all this?
