There is another product (which is similar to what caregiver222 is talking about) that you can probably find at some pharmacies. Its called surgicel, but I think it may be fairly expensive.
The gauze is called "Chinese Stop Bleeding Gauze" and is available on the internet. Do a google search.
The Chinese market an inexensive sterile gauze made from organic products they use in the Chinese Army. It comes in two-inch squares, rectangular sections and four-by-fours. It is placed over a wound and it causes clotting and seals the wound and then biodegrades. I had a large number of samples a few years ago when they were trying to promote it for first aid use in the U.S.
Thanks for the info, go back to the doctor July13 last blood test my Platelets were 57 Thousand/mm3 Hoped they were coming up but think it mat be dropping. Will see in July. Did find a powder they us in animals toe nails and bird wings when cutting them that causes clotting. Have to find out more about it before I try it.
Clotting disorders should be evaluated by a hematologist. The etiology of the clotting disorder must be evaluated. Sometimes this represents a genetic disorder. One really requires a professional evaluation.
Taking a simple vitamin pill, which contains about 25% of the daily requirement for vitamin K will help. I cannot speculate about the reason for lack of clotting, but vitamin K is produced in the intestines, and some people with syndromes that cause rapid passage of foods through the gut end up with k deficiency, and indirectly have clotting issues.
One issue is that failure to clot could result in damage should a person fall and hit their heads with sufficient force to rupture a blood vessel.
Ordinarily continuous pressure on a bleeding cut should induce clotting. Keep the prerssure on for eight to ten minutes and don't "peek",
Tiny cuts in the fingers that ooze blood can be sealed with ordinary store bought "crazy glue".
This really is the kind of thing you should see your doctor about. External bleeding isn't as big a problem as if you get internal bleeding. Check it out now before you have anemia and the extreme tiredness and problems with your organs (and hair loss) that go with that.
Also, if you are taking alot of aspirin, motrin, alleve or other NSAIDS then that can thin you blood and cause bleeding issues, so if you take alot of any of these meds, stopping them may help.
Have you had a cbc drawn to check your h&h and platelet count? You may try an iron suppliment to increase your H&H which may increase your clotting times. You should definately see a doctor and have a cbc drawn...there are many things that could cause this problem.
