swollen left vaginal lip

I'm not sure what the correct term is, but the left side of my vagina is swollen. Its close to my inner thigh.

About a week ago, it started to burn when I urinate and it has been itchy. Last night I noticed that the left side of my vaginal lip is swollen. Its a lot bigger that the right side.

I have tried sleeping with out underwear this past week and been keeping the area clean, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I had the same problem a few months ago but both lips were swollen. I went to a music festival and I didn't bath properly for 4 days, I just used sanitary wipes for the weekend.

The next day after I had gotten home I saw I had huge swelling, I left it and it went away.

But now it seems to be back.

Can anyone help me with what is causing this and what I can do to heal it? Is it a sign of something seriously wrong as it happend more than once now?

I'm not sexually active and I wasn't sexually active the weekend with the festival. So I'm sure it can't be an infection due to sexual intercourse.

Also, I have never visited the gynea.... I'm 21

I'm worried, please help!!!

Try a bath with witchazel. Most likely you have eritated hair folicals. Sometimes they will incapsulate (around bacteria) to protect the body and they can even turn into labia cyst. See your Gyno and i am sure he will put your mind as ease. Also stay away from using those wipe in privates. The womens body actually carry anti-fungel agents in secretions. I f you wipe those away to clean up your self, you may be wiping away your natural barriers.

It has happened to me before, I don't think it's anything so serious.  They washing with baking soda, if you can sit in the bath or something to fill up under you and was with it 3 times a day about 2 spoon fills in water and rub against you vagina area, you can even do it after you go to the bathroom with give you some relief. Let me know how it goes wish you luck. Feel better

Hi Val. Well the first time it happened, it lasted about a week... Same this time around. I noticed it burned whenever I urinated even when I washed last week saturday, then last night when I checked to see what's going on there as it was itching, I noticed the swelling.

The first time I thought it had happened because I didn't clean properly as I mentioned, so I basically waited it out. When it cleared up I wasn't worried anymore, but now that it's back, I am scared that I may have a serious infection.
