So for a duo what would be conclusive? I know a 6 week clearview 1/2 finger prick one is a good indicator but 3 months is needed correct? And I think I will wait at least 6 weeks to get tested

Yes a DUO test like all other tests can give a false postive, reason that all positive tests have to be confirmed. The information you were given above is incorrect. A DUO test cannot give a conclusive negative test earlier than 3 months post exposure. 4 weeks is not conclusive.

UK Fourth Generation  Testing

Post testing

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

Thank all of you for your help .scaredandwrecked that helped alot thank you it eased my mind I tend to worry about this alot even if i strap up lol when I went for my last check up the doctor said he has been doing this since 1990 and has not had one male who became HIV positive from heterosexual sex (vaginal iam assuming) and then he said in no way iam I telling you to not practice safe sex but HIV is not really easy to catch? Do you agree with this it kinda makes me feel a little better about my stupid decision

A 4 week DUO will provide you with a fully conclusive result because thats when p24 antigen spikes.

Ask your GF to get tested again if you can. If she is negative you need not. Else 3 months or 90 days is conclusive. Good luck hope your negative.

You're odds are strongly in your favor. Statistics aren't usually used on this site but you have about a 1 in 1000 chance for catching HIV. Not only that, she claims she was negative when she last tested and MOST people don't lie.

Test at 6 weeks for a very reliable result and I wouldn't expect anything else really but a negative. The odds are in your favor as this is considered a low risk since it was 1.) a one time exposure 2.) most people don't have HIV in America, about 1.2 million do and only 250,000 don't know it. 3.) Female to Male transmission is the least likely to occur.

Best of luck and condom up:)
