Question about testing..

I am a 22 year old non drug user male and I've only had one sex partner in my entire life. In February of 2006 I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend at the time for about 10-12 times. I have no reason to believe she was HIV+ but when I took a health class a few months ago and we talked about HIV/AIDS it started to scare me because I never had been tested. I never thought to get tested because I'm not sexually active. I still keep in touch with this girl and I know she is very happy with a boyfriend now, but my question is, should I get tested?

Is it necessary for me to get tested after every single sexual partner I have?

Thank you for your time.

sorry...just noticed the date that you posted.  a test at this point will reveal your status and you can move on from there :)

AFTER every sexual partner you have?????  i think not...might be too late AFTER!!!!!

you should always use a condom until you are sure of a person's status.

now...should you test???  damn betcha!  you had unprotected intercourse.  even though the chances of this young woman are pretty slim that she has hiv...you do not know her status.  a test at 6-8 weeks after your last unprotected intercourse will give you a good indication of the final result...but 3 months is conclusive.

It sounds to me like you have irrational anxiety, and I would say it's no reason for you to test for hiv. On the other hand it's not a bad idea to get tested for std's (including hiv) on regular basis (like yearly) for a sexual active person who is not in a steady relationship.

She told me she was clean at the time and we only had vaginal sex, is testing warranted in my situation? Should I get tested after every sexual partner?
