How many PVC's do you have daily?

I thought I would do a poll so everyone can vote and see what others counts are, since this is such a frequently asked question.

What has been your highest PVC count caught on holter or other monitor?

Explain or discuss below...

Haven't been around this forum for a little while, used to be here multiple times a day. It's a great place.

To add to your poll, my last holter monitor said I had on average 1246pvcs/hr so approx  29,000/day.

But that was a little over two years ago. Where did all that time go?. Started taking acebutolol and I'm not sure, because it's not been monitored since, but I'm guessing I now get between 200 to 1000/day (higher when it's a bad day). Just glad something finally worked........

Madge I saw someone else recently talking about Magnesium also; I just can't find the post or I'd give you the link - sorry been out of it due to a head/neck injury fall

My doctor told me I needed to take calcium along with magnesium (2 to 1 ratio), not magnesium alone. And he also said I needed more D3.  Since I've been taking one softgel with those three ingredients, I do seem to have fewer PVCs.

I know the magnesium I take isn't mag malate, though.  I'd be interested in how much you take of that daily and whether it comes in a calcium/magnesium combo. Probably not, but I'm just asking. I still get PVCs, just fewer. I'd like to get rid of them completely.

I found what you wrote very interesting and thank you for that great post. So this Malate that your taking about can be purchased at your local drug store?
What levels of the Mag do you need to start of at? Or how long should I stay on this for? Ive never took a Mag supplement before, but am willing to give it a shot. With you being in a respitory course and what not, would shallow breathing have any effect on more PVC's happening?

Some times I think doctors forget about the biology they learned. So many people could be helped if they understood cellular function instead of surgical intervention. Magnesium therapy is shown effective in the treatment of arrythmia because it address cellular metabolism. Magnesium Malate is actually the best form of Magnesium to take for PAC or PVC because not only is it a chelated form which has a high bio-availablility but the malate form works with a part of the Krebs cycle that targets muscle cells including your heart muscle cells. Studies have shown the people who die from PVC induced MI had a very low functioning or non exsistant Magnesium Malate Kreb cycle function. I am in a Respritory Therapy program and we have to know ion function as a matter of routine to keep patients alive. Magnesium is a ion that is  critical in the balance of homestasis as it relates to cell function. It is simple in the fact that if your magnesium is low your cells lose their ability to perform their normal function and in the case of heart muscle pace maker cells they will lose the ability to fire properly at regular intervals causing PAC & PVCs. Also normal blood serum levels of  magnesium does not indicate that magnesium in your cells is normal or not deficient. Thus the chelated forms should be taken as most know by now. I had arrythmias that were getting so bad that it was getting hard to breathe on occasion. I started taken Magnesium Glycinate and my PACs went down by half. Then I read the studies on the Krebs-Malate cycle combined with my own knowledge from my University work. I do not have ANY arrythmia as long as I take the Malate form of Magnesium. I take Magnesium Malate from Source Naturals.

you have benign pvc's and the dr said only a few rare things could start them? I haven't heard that before but heard/read a long long list of things can cause pvc's; unless there's something I'm missing or not understanding

maybe the MRI will show something and give you some answers; mine didn't show anything and I have no clue after 2 years of testing what caused mine or what's wrong; I've gotten so much conflicting things from different doctors

i would definitely ask the doctor what he meant and what he thinks it may be so you get some answers

Hey there. Yes I have had an EP Study, which they were unsuccessful in the Study. I have had all blood work done, ekg and echo, and had an MRI today actually. Ive tried cutting alot of stesses out of my life, and was put on ssri's and benzo's too try and help too. Also I tried the natural path root with natural meds and acupuncture. Also quit smoking and drinking completey, and lost weight and changed my diet...Im just so puzzled at why and what started them. I heard there is a few rare things that could start this, but I never got told what those things could be. Thats what my Card. said, and actually thats why I had the mri today. I never aked her what that could possibly be. But do you have any suggestions? Thanks

have you talked to an EP? with 20,000 an ablation may work for you; do you have any other symptoms? have you done blood work to make sure all your electrolytes/blood levels are ok? also; like most everyone else try and find triggers and eliminate/avoid them...

when my dr told me to eliminate/avoid stressors, I asked him what was the best way to get rid of my husband & kids...he looked at me weird but yeah family stresses are a major thing for me and I can't get rid of them [the joke fell kind of flat lol]

Thanks for the poll, it is always good to see the support from the community and their personal issues regarding PVC's.
I myself had around 1000-3000 in 2008, 2500-5500 in 2009, 5000-10000 in 2010 and now around 10000- 20000 daily. And I usually feel every one, even though I have trained my mind how to avoid getting obsessed on the fact that there happening all the time. Usually working out and having a high heart rate is the only relief and sleeping of course when I feel PVC free!! Its such a wonderful feeling. If I could workout all the time, I would. I tried, but it didnt work out so well. By the end of the month I was completey whiped out. I really dont have a cure for them that helps me. Ive tried alot of things, and nothing has made them go away, only increase from 2008. Thanks for the poll!!!

We're all l"amateurs" here... but some have done a lot of independent study and research/experience....witness the reply before yours.

PVC=Premature Ventricle Contraction.

In my case I can just hear Ventricle contractions, the atrial contractions and fibrillation go unnoticed or detected to my ear even added with a stethoscope.

Thus, my logic went something like since my ventricle is doing an "extra" beat, it is like a PVC..seems not.  As for my arithmetic:

There are 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, so 5 per minute gives
5 x 60 x 24 = 7,200, as was noted in the correction.  Not sure what I did in my original exercise, seems a senior moment :(

Don't want to sound like an amateur but what are PVC's?

I don't think they do.

If they should count as anything I would say they count as PACs, but they really just count as "pulse deficit"; where the heart isn't filled enough to create a sensable pulse wave.

If your circulation is 6 liter / minute, or 100 ml/second, a beat occuring 1,5 seconds after the previous one in theory contain 150 ml of blood and be highly noticeable. Given the same logic a beat occuring 0,4 seconds after the previous one would contain 40 ml of blood and not be noticeable.

This calculation isn't entirely correct (as more factors count) but it's an example.

On a Holter monitoring, people with A-fib often have a high amount of "fake" PVCs, because early beats in A-fib often get a wide complex on EKG, because one of the bundle branches is refractory, so the beat will be conducted with RBBB (or LBBB) and for that reason look like a PVC. (the Ashman phenomenon). That said, during A-fib pauses, ventricular escape beats are common.

By the way, 5-10 a minute equals 7.200 - 14.400 / 24 hours.

Take care :)

Do irregular beats caused by AFib "leak through" count as a PVC?  If so, I have between 5 and 10 a minute.

Or:  500 to 1,500

I'm not trying to be a distraction, but an extra ventricle beat seems to me to be Premature, and while I don't feel them much, others do.   I know my number form my periodic listening to my heart for a full minute with the aid of a stethoscope.  Guess that tells you I don't feel my heart beat, even if I try with my finger on my wrist.  That's why my doctors don't want to risk an ablation to stop the AFib.

thanks to everyone who's voted so far; it's interesting to see what others have and I think it's helpful seeing a graph of numbers

I don't know alot about PAC's but would a poll with PAC's counts be good also?

Before RF ablation I had roughly 50,000 pvc's; after about 10,000 daily.
