Ldn effective for stress tolerance / fatigue?

Hi, Jonas here,

I heard plenty good things of LDN and that it normalizes the immune system by inhibiting interferon induced chronic active microglia.... Has anyone experience if this stuff could one bring back to life from this interferon aftermath?

Greetings

i would ask your GP for a script, tell him that you suffer from ifn related issues and that it may help a bit

Hi there....I cannot find a way of getting Cerefolin NAC without a prescription
in UK....or Europe for that matter....It sounds like an excellent supplement to
be taking for the post interferon mess we find ourselves in. Any info would
be gratefully received.

Are you sure that you are getting Cerefolin NAC? Here are the ingredients of Cerefolin NAC.

L-methylfolate (Metafolin) 5.6mg, methylcobalamin 2mg, N-acetylcysteine 600mg.

Maybe where you are they are divided by the NAC 200mg so you are taking 3X200mg would be correct (N-acetylcysteine 600mg). That is the correct dose for once a day.

I contacted Nestle Health Science to ask about extra Vit B and they said it was fine to take as much as I wanted as you eliminate what your body doesnt use... NAC wont do any harm - if you are not having any side-effects ***I am having horrible itchy scalp issues*** then go for it.

hi frank,

yeah i'm eating the NAC like smarties (maybe it's too less?) i take about 3x200mg or 6x200mg with B12 methylation factors, but i run out of NAC so fast (the people at the pharmacy look at me a little weird) when i'm buying NAC all the time... the max package is 600 tablets x 10 for about 4 euro thats 6 dollar...

You may have found a better dose for yourself. Everyone is different.

Stay at 1.5mg for a couple weeks and maybe try 1.75 or 2mg and if you feel more dysphoria then go back down.

As you say, this is powerful stuff but the horrible poisons that Big Pharma inflamed us all with has done lordy knows what & was very powerful also...

As for memory (mild cognitive impairment) I have had AMAZING success with Cerefolin NAC which is a medical food from Nestle Health Science & at one time it was OTC but now is by script only & can be a bit expensive even with insurance.

today i took 1.5 mg instead of my usual 3mg dose and i feel much less dysphoria ( i take LDN in the morning), it still seems to help and is really powerful stuff as my experience is.
the memory/focus problems still exsist and i'm still not able to play e guitar virtuously like before IFN but it is a small step in the right direction.

the best thing is that it proves the theory of chronic brain inflammation induced by IFN alpha. i heared DXM also inhibits TLR4 receptor sites at microglia and preventing releasing TNF alpha and Interleukin ( inflammation ).

My dear friend,

Please do not "go away" hugs! I am sure that Bruin could add tons of fantastic British idioms here that would have us all laughing on our sides (or make us question how sane you all are on that side of the pond).

Better safe than sorry and did you actually write on a shopping list "oil and guns" for your hubby? or just tell him? too funny!

remember that laughter is the best medicine actually so please dont go anywhere! we just have to be extra careful with anything you type here!

big hugs my dear friend!

inflammation in the brain has been shown to be the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. as I have been talking about LDN for years... since a patient from Mayo came here to say that she was DX with PIS and treated with LDN - well I have been talking about PIS and LDN ever since...

So since LDN does break thru the brain barrier that is why Mayo treats PIS with LDN not only for CFS but for PIS which is an inflammation of the body.

So, yes, Jonas, slowly but surely LDN will reduce inflammation thru out your body but it will not be over nite... it may take years if not a decade - or longer, who knows what these liver specialist/pharma monster did to us!

I am glad you two worked out the different meds.

This may also be what is confusing my team of doctors. According to my pain doc LDN can only be prescribed by a pain physician but that makes no sense as naltrexone is only used with the Sinclair method by alcoholics, for the most part and Opioid addiction to a less extent - as far as I can tell.

If naltrexone was an opioid would it be so easy to import 30 or 60 tabs?!?

Ok, Bruin, now I found your dosing info.

You bring up the most widely used web sites. There is not much info on them about HepC or PIS and LDN. Ian in Thailand is a good source who has not treated for his HepC and was on 3.5 but went down to 3mg. Most with HepC or PIS believe that 3.5 is the max dose instead of the 4.5 usually discussed.

As for the vivid dreams. I did the PM dosing and got the vivid dreams which interrupted my sleep. I already have enough problems sleeping. Fortunately a discussion re-started on the forum about this and it was again put to rest for me. It doesnt matter when you take LDN. The research usually quoted was done on rats (could have been mice) but they are nocturnal animals - I have had both rats and mice as pets and they get very busy at nite!

I switched to dosing as soon as I woke up and the vivid dreaming soon ended and my sleeping has become most deep than ever. Many report the same. and the benefits of LDN continued without a hitch.

Oh, many say to freeze your supply of naltrexone. Do not do that. It is the same as coffee beans. I have never seen a freezer at my local coffee house and I have never seen a freezer at my pharmacy. Just keep your supply of naltrexone in a cool dark place. Keep your mixture in the fridge and you are good to go.

I believe that my treatment of INF & Riba of 72 weeks nearly a decade ago was so deep that 2.75 mg of LDN has some effect but it will take a long time to reverse such deep and horrific life altering damage. Along with juicing, ultra high doses of vitamin Bs and such may help also... what it seems definite is that big pharma will not be part of the solution!

Subuxone contains naloxone to prevent IV use.
If used orally the naloxone doesn't reach the CNS, one has to inject it to feel the effect (which isn't a good idea)

Subutex is an opiod and highly addictive. It has dual quality of being both an opiod agonist and antagonist. It is famously hard to withdraw from.
LDN is an opiod antagonist .I can find no record on the net of anyone being
addicted to it or suffering withdrawals. It also has a very good record in terms
of side effects. There is nothing in it which alters mood at all.

Subutex/temgesic is an opiate agonist too.

Yes you had me worried for a min....Have worked out where the confusion lies
There is a drug called Naloxone otherwise know as Narcan which is used to
reverse the the effects of opioids. This is a different animal altogether.
I am not conversant with subutex  but remember temgesic as the clucking drug of choice during my brush with Heroin in the early eighties. Guess they are the same with different name....both very bothersome to withdraw from.
Allegedly much much worse than withdrawal from Heroin. So no wonder it was tough for you.....all the stories say that it is horrid particularly when it comes down to the last little bit. I have to say that LDN has not made me feel less like I have been run over by a large bus but something which I can actually do whilst feeling wretched is watch the cricket on telly and I have noticed that even in this very short time it has improved my increasingly blurry vision...I was already planning a trip to the eye specialist but feel I may be able to delay it for a day or two now. All the best.

Thank goodness for that! I know Subutex is Temgesic so how do they differ?

We are talking about a different drug. Naltrexone is not Temgesic, I know Temgesic from the 1980 s and would not be going near it again. Naltrexone is licensed for withdrawal from opioids and alcohol. It comes in 50 mg tablets and up to 300 mg can be prescribed in acute stages of withdrawal. Naltrexone is an opiod antagonist and is not know to have addictive properties or be a
an analgesic of any sort.It does not get you high. At a low dose it appears to regulate the immune system though no clinical trials have been done. This is because it is long out of patent and can be manufactured  cheaply. Before embarking on it I have talked to friends who are in the natural healing world. The positive reports from many who suffer from autoimmune diseases of all sorts is  remarkable. Many have been able to come off  more aggressive medicine such as Prednisone.
Not everyone has a positive result but many do....the most common remark I have come across is that it arrested the progress of the disease. What I am taking is certainly Low Dose Naltrexone. I have taken the 50 mg tablet and dissolved it in distilled water and made it into 12 doses. This is the suggested protocol.Prescribing of LDN is easy to get if one has autoimmune disease. Of course the NHS will not because it is only licensed at the high dose and not clinically tested. As I have said previously I am not promoting it in any way but have researched it quite thoroughly and as medicines go it seems pretty benign. There are no horror stories that I have heard of. Nothing like punching interferon into the search engine ! However if I feel as though it is or could be damaging I shall cease immediately...Along with Hepatitis C I have been cured from much of western medicine !

No wonder you have no muscle pain! Did you know that naltrexone is also known as  Temgesic, a cancer pain relief drug?

having just read your dosage-I was on 4mg when I first kicked a 20 year heroin habit cutting to down 2mg fairly quickly and then down to 0.2mg for 2 years which was really really difficult to kick so I can't see that 3.5mg is a low dose!

I'm with you on the diet thing! I can only speak from my experience of naltrexone,it took me over a year to wean off 0.2mg-I don't know what your dose is? Glad you're finding them helpful,I'm wary after my experience!

Good afternoon Ros.....it concerns me if LDN is addictive. All the research
I did indicates that it is not...certainly not at the low dose i.e. under one tenth of
the amount taken for opiate addiction. I read quite comprehensively before
embarking on it and talked to my NHS GP....He certainly did not discourage
me . There is a a good website..lowdosenaltrexone.org as well as LDN forum and many other threads. What clinched it for me was reading the testimony of a ridiculously healthy looking naturopath who is using it for MS. I am fortunate that I do not have extreme pain although I was prescribed codeine for the last bit of my treatment a couple of years ago and spent an additional year weaning myself off. I do understand the necessity for opiates in many cases but it did not suit me and was causing problems. Now 8 days on 3.5 mg Naltrexone and am not doing a dance but without question it has reduced  burning in the muscles which has been a constant companion since Interferon.
The only side that I am experiencing is slightly disturbed sleep and vivid dreams. But am enjoying the dreams. I am aware that if I need to have surgery that I will need to cease but in the meantime I am proceeding with hope. It appears that recovery from interferon damage is uncharted waters and highly individual. I have radically altered my diet and am looking at doing a juice fast under supervision of a friend who is a nutritionist. My GP told me about a piece in the Sundays which was about the potential of fasting in resetting the immune system. In the past I have done up to 10 days of fasting and though tough it was beneficial. I am certainly not propounding either fasting or LDN but they are things I feel drawn to...they make sense to my mind. It is such a hard complaint to be pro active about....not an identifiable target. So appreciate what you post Ros...thanks !

but if you are on opiate pain killers their effects will be blocked by the naltrexone. If you have to have an operation you must stop taking naltrexone for 3 days so that opiate pain relief will work. I took high dose naltrexone for 3 years to get myself off heroin and it was really hard to come off the last tiny tiny amount of naltrexone,it is addictive.
