Dear All,

I am glad to inform that I have got my week 4 viral load test report and it says, 'HCV RNA not detected'!1

I am now hopeful! Thank you everyone here for supporting me and calming me down when I was anxious.

I sincerely hope that I am able to slay this beast.

You all are wonderful!

From what I have read at this and other forums, that treatment helps the liver in healing itself. Even if a patient is not cured, the treatment gives a break to the liver. And that is known to benefit the liver.

For patients who have some degree of fibrosis, treatment may help in reducing the stage of fibrosis. For example, if someone has stage 2 fibrosis before treatment, his/ her liver would likely get better with treatment. And the liver may heal itself to stage 1 or more rarely, stage 0 fibrosis.

The liver has the ability to heal itself (provided the damage is not extreme) if the cause of the damage is removed.

There really isn't a concrete, definitive answer to this question because of the nuanced differences that existed within our bodies. But, it is the virus that was causing the damage to your liver (and other areas of your body) so it would be safe to presume that healing does begin to take place shortly after the virus is eradicated. The age of the body is probably the biggest factor in how fast things begin to heal. The interferon and Riba regimen can also be rather rigorous and taxing on the liver during treatment, this may inhibit your body's ability to heal properly during treatment. But the healing process still begins, regardless.

Congratulations, hope to have the same news soon. I am starting all 3 meds next Friday. Am nervous and excited. I think I am the first one my of my doctor's patients to take Solvaldi, he is as excited as me I think. My viral load is 192,000, hope it is 0 soon. A question... does the liver start healing right away, or only after treatment?

Congratulations on this great initial report.  Your courage in starting treatment is paying off.  I think for those struggling with this terrible virus, the words "Undetected"  and "SVR" are the sweetest words in the English language.

Hoping for your continued success in slaying this dragon once and for all.

Thank you all!

You all have been very encouraging. Infact, it was on this forum after talking to ahavs that I gathered the courage to go for treatment.

With your wishes, I hope to get cured. I know I am not out of the woods, yet.

To all those who are waiting to start treatment, remember, the interferon , ribavarin combination need not necessarily have extreme side effects.

Good luck to all soldiers!
