Starting Sofosbuvir GS 5885

Hi, I tried Teleprevir last year and failed. The Institute called me last week to see if I wanted to be in this new study for Sofosbuvir GS 5885. I have not been able to get much info on the net except from the Drug Co.
They have one slot open and I need to be there tomorrow for my bloodwork and EKG. Is there anyone on Med Help that is in this trial or anyone with any info that would help me make this decision. I was so dis-hearted when I could not stay in the Teleprevir study. It is Phase 3, either 12 or 24 weeks and either with or w/o Riba.  It starts next week. Thanks for any info. Reen

I have read very little about severe cirrhosis in this forum. I don't know if it's because not too many have it coupled with hepc.  been trying for some time now to get answers about treatments (if  any ).  It could be I didn't read every single  post, but so far not much.  i'm not trying to be pushy ( well maybe just a little ).  You think maybe I should go to another health website?  Do you know where I can get answers about what to do to not end up dead?  I don't mean to sound morbid,  but it very well might be my reality.  You must have cirrhosis or you wouldn't be sticking up for those who do.  Thanx

If it does come back you have still given your liver a break and rest and some healing..and by then maybe there will be other drugs..don't worry about the what if's..what if it turns to cancer in the mean time..lot of what ifs..Naomi Judd and some blonde guy who is famous also and Steven Tyler had hep C and beat it..the meds are better now..they took the chance and they are cured or giving their liver a badly  needed break..if they relapse..

Hi there. re your: ' So you know this is what has been submitted for approval.

On April 8, Gilead submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for sofosbuvir for the treatment of HCV infection. The data submitted in the NDA support the use of sofosbuvir and RBV as an all-oral therapy for patients with genotype 2 and 3 HCV infection, and for sofosbuvir in combination with RBV and peg-IFN for treatment-naïve patients with genotype 1, 4, 5 and 6 HCV infection.'

does that eliminate people like me that failed incivik (when it was know as teleprevir) and am a genotype 1a?

from the research that gilead has laid out the 5%-10%of patients in trials that have failed treatment are the patients w/ cirrhosis-CAN-DO-MAN is right.i dont wish to bust anybody's bubble this is info i have found thru the statistics that gilead has offered.not all pts. but quite a bit.
i am willing to try the sofosbuvir but what if this virus comes back in a year or two this is what worries me the most.
i am stage 2/grade1 but i am very scared of the what if's.

the sad part Renee is when the drug becomes commercially available it will have some other component, likely interferon according to what I heard and many will be happy to get it in any form. the other thing they will have to deal with will the battle between the insurers and pharma

I am grateful to be here.
