Actually, if you are eating well, and not deficient in anything - there was a major study out about a month ago, or so... saying that taking vitamins/sup was not really doing much! If I remember correctly, and with this brain fog, can't promise, it might have been one of those long studies with nurses!
Personally, after a long treatment time, "curing" but getting sicker and sicker... I met a retired doctor who set up a vitamin shop. We became friends and he really wanted to help me. He suggested a few things to try but with no luck. As we all know these things are NOT regulated. The brands my friend was selling, he said, he trusted... anyways, when I stopped taking EVERYTHING I felt 100% better and I was "cured".
Sooooo, I will get some sun light, exercise, stay hydrated, eat healthy, and listen to a trusted doctor reading blood reports!
Depends on what stage your liver is in. Livers that are decompensated have a very hard time even processing food. Hector explained it to me a couple of years ago... I'll try to find that email and send you that part.
I am prescribed K. I take Omega3 and have protein caps. I stay away from supplements that have anything to do with liver. At class instruction for Sovaldi they said to stop taking St Johns Wort and Milkthistle if you start Sovaldi.
Glad it is getting towards Spring so I can start eating more fresh juices and vegetables...yes they are readily available...but when it is cold one just doesn't really want a cold salad. Just purchased a NuWave and you can even dehydrate fruit and veggies so I am anxious to use it and some of the other features and eat more fish too. Plus at my stage I need to eat smaller meals throughout the day...so I eat a cup of yogurt...an hour or two later I might have a cup of cooked vegetables, etc. Try to keep a small level amount of food coming through the day rather than hit my liver with 2 - 3 meals a day.....that is too much for it to process at once. Remember, everything you intake is processed through your liver and if is compromised then it takes longer.
If you get on one of these drug protocols...ask the doctor...my hep said Omega what....so there is a 24 hour nurse at Sovaldi who can answer that question.
hmmm. I thought those supplements you are taking actually do some work for the liver so it can focus on fighting the virus. Opposite of "making the liver work harder". Your supplements fall on the mild side of vitamins that one could take. Heck, a normal person should take those you are taking just for general health.
Thks for answering! I just felt that maybe I was overworking my liver. I had a nurse tell me when I got my hep a/b vacine to not even take anything if it was not prescribed. She said anything will make your liver work to hard. I thought that was a little harsh, so I like to ask people who have experience themselves with this disease for feedback. And yes I will ask doc but that seems so long from now!
I personally would take them till I had my doctors appointment. Then he can advice you what you should and should not take.
Best to you
