Liver pain after SVR on UND

Ok, so I just finished sovaldi/olysio one week agao. I am genotype 1a grade 1 stage 0 possibly 1, last biopsy was 5 years ago. I went UND at 4 weeks and was UND again EOT...I have had a lot of pain in my liver area since going UND. My LFT's are all fine and always have been...Why does my liver area hurt and has anyone experienced this after clearing the virus? I have read regeneration but I would like some real experiences...

Thank you :)

Gallstones can be easily diagnoised with MRI while checking liver.  The hepatologist can do a blood test to look for cancer markers related to liver or pancreas.

Has anyone really sat down and looked.....really looked at all of the plumbing in there?  There could be many issues.

Again we aren't doctors.  This is an area where you shouldn't self-diagnose yourself.  Go see a hepatologist.

As for wheat allergies...there are just allergies to wheat...and there is celiac disease.  For celiac the doctor can do a blood test.  Reports have shown that just because something is labeled as "wheat" just does make it so anymore.  I have actually written individual companies and asked for percentage of  stuff in that product.  or other food allergies...sometimes they don't appears until after your 30's. Food elimination is a good way to find out but you need to group all of the food you eat into their correct food groups.  Eliminate one group...the next week the next group and so forth.

Once you have narrowed down to the group you need to be sure to eat all the foods in that group then start the elimination process of each food within that group until you identify.  It is also realizing what each food actually contains.  It's like celery...celery contains sodium...who 'da thunk it.... Elizabeth Hasselbeck has a good book on this plus there are a couple of others.  It all breaks down to knowing what your food really is.

I use to eat a lot of wheat products but stopped because they caused me to have gerd and generally not feel well.  Have a different problem with raw onions. Can eat them but the onion skins need to be taken out to the  trash almost immediately because the odor they give off gives me massive headaches.  Never had problems with either food before.

Also too upper right quad pain...are you drinking enough water every day.  Read up on "fatty liver".

Go to your hepatologists....let us know what they say....

Have you considered that it might be gallstones.? Do you have pain in your upper right back and between your shoulders?

I get paint in my upper right quadrant, but it is actually a few inches lower, but still upper right ( above the belly button)
It is for me from wheat, or foods I am allergic too, and causing intestinal spasms
After you see md, do ultra sounds, blood tests and be sure it is not anything else, do an elimination diet, that how I found out

UND is not SVR. You go UND and then later you go SVR.  Have you seen your hepatologist.  Also the Sovaldi / Riba is to destroy the HCV.  It does not cure damage to your liver.

If you have compensated cirrhosis it will stop the HCV damage but it does not cure the liver.  A compensated liver will eventually rejuvenate if there is not more serious damage.  If your liver is decompensated the HCV will stop when you go SVR but it does not rejuvenate your liver in it decompensated state.

Just like me....I am on sovaldi / riba.  Trying to kill off the HCV.  I have stage 4 decompensated liver damage.  The liver will not rejuvenate and I will still have to have a liver transplant.

You should get yourself to a hepatologist and have him check you out.  Liver damage can be caused from life styles and health styles.  Or other areas of your body.  It deserves to have a blood work up and a MRI and for you to see your doctor.  Not everything is caused by the HCV or liver....you just get it in your mind that "it's because of my liver" which could or could not be true.

I have looked at my disease....possibly or possibly not related....as two separate issues.  There is the HCV.  There is the cirrhosis.  I would have to clear my HCV before my transplant or after....wanted to do before while I was stronger.

Good luck in finding out.  We aren't doctors here but we have all indicated that you need to see your hepatologist....that is a hepatologist....not a general practitioner.   Drink plenty of water in between now and then and avoid carbonated sodas....the carbonation can affect your gall bladder and pancreas.  And it goes with out saying don't drink alcohol.  .

Liver pains during treatment and shortly after treatment  is very common I was told by my  GI and nurses at the clinic I treated. It will eventually go away. When I asked why they said the reason is still unknown. In itself it is no indication that you will remain UND.

Congrats on finishing treatment and being UND,all the best for an SVR

Could it possibly be caused by some other inflammatory systemic issue?  I'm thinking like a fibromyalgia type of thing ? Or if you also have pain in your joints, something like rheumatoid arthritis?  You don't have to be old to get arthritis, it can happen at any age.  Or maybe it's gallbladder related?  The only way to know for sure if it continues, is to be checked by your doctor.

I have had this pain in the past but not as frequent. It happened about a year ago I went to er but they did ultrasound and bloodwork and all was fine. I have also had it throughout my life. I Was born with the virus. It usually would only last for a day or so, but since tx this time it is here a lot more. I asked my liver dr but she said it was most likely muscular, but I swear it feels liver related.

If you are having continual or severe pain in the abdomen you should contact a doctor or go to a hospital. Pain in the abdomen other than temporary pain from stomach upset is abnormal and should be looked at by a physician.

Good luck.
