You will live for a long time, anyone can live with only 40% of their liver working for years, at least that's what my doctor told me. If you had a doctor tell you that you were going to die, change doctors. I had a doctor say that to me once, if you're thinking that krap on your own, well then you're at the right forum. Stick around awhile, I've been worried sick about my condition before so I can certainly relate. God Bless

I am new to the forum but an old Hep C patient for many years. I was scared also when I was diagnosed. I have had all those symptoms. Having geno type 1a does not mean you will die. Have you had a liver biopsy yet? Keep the faith and stay brave. It's not all that bad if your doctor is treating your symptoms.
Statistically, about 5% of Hep C patients will die from their disease. To put this into perspective, nearly 50% of cigarette smokers will die from tobacco related causes.
