to medhelp about those "NOTES to"

hi,
I find those "notes" annoying and provoking. It makes me feel left out and annoyed and it seems childish.
IT FEELS LIKE HIGH SCHOOL DAYS. It seeems silly, totally. And diminishes the importance of this forum. It makes it seem very kiddish.

Pitter, it's a joke. Actually, I started it :), with a few posters as they were saying they don't like them much so I was teasing them with 'notes tag'. Just bored and note harrassing them :)

Guess I am adding you to my note 'tag' along with Deb_c and Charm and those that don't like them, LOL. (Deb_c....I'm one up on you!! )

Only when I'm bored tho!

1. Yes, please make "Notes" private - don't show on the sidebar, and don't show to other people visiting your profile.

2. PLEASE collapse the "Notes" box on others' profiles - if someone wants to use it, they can click to open it.  I find that box extremely annoying when I go to someone's profile to get useful information they are trying to share for the benefit of others.

My opinion...

OOOh - I kind of like them... Strange --- but truly --- they should make you all more interactive...

Except one thing... Half of us are dog tired and don't feel like focusing on anything else... and the other half are totally enshrouded in chemical fog that makes it difficult to even think about being nice... or at least nice enough to say hi on a little note...

So ya know what?

I'm gonna try and make an effort to at least send a little thought out there for everyone...

The thing I do like about them --- is that they are "canned" responses so only take 2 or 3 clicks --- but they say all that you want to say in those quick clicks.

Without having to write a long note...

I'd really like to think that there aren't clicques --- but there are... and that's all cool - but know you're loved - no matter what. OK?

Fret, yep.. my feeling on that too from the first time I saw it.  I can see some people wanting to send a quick encouragement.  However, at least make the darn things private.  Suddenly it feels like Facebook because they are public.  I would probably send the odd note if they were private.  I don't have alot of time to keep up with all the emails and I feel bad about it, so the occasioinal "Keeping you in my thoughts" would fill the gap .. but I won't send it if it's public.

MedHelp .. wondering if it's possible to at least make these private rather than showing up in the sidebar?  I've realized mine received don't show up because I haven't joined the "Community" or so I'm thinking.  Just one more reason not to join.

I agree totally with you on this post, not only does it seem like High School, but most of us are over 18 so why would you want to see that type of format on such a serious issue and forum.  It just seems so hip-hop or Myspace, I wish they would just lose it.  Also, when I send someone a note why would I want the whole forum to know?  The only ones who should know is the recipient and the sender.  Just my 2 cents.  later

no offense meant to anyone, but the notes remind me of highschool clicks..and I was never in any of those clicks!!!! HA! that's probably why I don't like them!!!

Pitter-I didn't send you a note, but check your messages. :-)

Andiamo-In light of the message I just sent you-after sending a note-this is funny!  I always remember how much I dislike notes-usually right after I send one!  Hopefully I will remember before from now on!

That having been said-I don't like them either! (unless I forget!)

I certainly think it changes the nature of the forum.  Some people will find it an improvement and some will find it a detriment - I fall in the latter category.

I think the world of instant messages and cell phone texting is here to stay whether we like it or not.  I suspect the younger people on the forum will like notes because it falls in that genre.  The public aspect of it is strange and I am not sure that is an asset.

don't worry, I don't get many notes either! lol probably won't be tossing and turning about it though, not to say you were..lol...yeah, it does seem a little silly, and I don't exactly know what they accomplish, cause they aren't private from what I can see...final analysis? I'm with you, they are bit irritating...
