General Herpes Questions

Hi,

I had sex with an escort on Feb. 6th.

So it's been about 10 weeks. My initial concern was HIV. Although, I've tested negative for that 3 times now. I did test negative for Herpes at 5 weeks and 1 day after my exposure.

I performed unprotected cunnilingus on this woman. If I did catch herpes from that, how soon after would I have experienced symptoms? The reason I ask is because just today I have developed this ulcer like thing on the bottom part of my tongue. It's like a raw strip with a whitish outline. Just started today.

I do have a little white spot that has appeared on the head of my penis but it doesn't itch or anything.

Sorry, not having it.  After 3 weeks and no out breaks, you should be good man.

Prizefighter, you said I would be good with the herpes. You mean good as in NOT having, correct? Or good as being able to live with it not causing a lot of problems for me?

No risk for HIV.  You should be good with the herpes.  I would not worry about it.

Most oral is hsv1 not 2. It is possible to get genital herpes if she gave you oral sex but is she did not have any lip sore at the time would be very low risk as shedding oral hsv1 does not occur that often.Getting herpes from a one time affair is really not much of an issue with no sores at the time and even with a sore it takes some really rubbing friction to force the virus into the nerve.

Thanks again I really specials your response. One last question... She also gave me unprotected oral sex. If she had had herpes in her mouth could it have been transmitted to my penis that way? Is it possibly for someone to have HSV 2 in their muon and transmit it to someone's gentials via oral sex?

You would have noticed if the condom failed. Any outbreak with condom use would be most likely in your pubic mound area.

I did have  vaginal intercourse with her but I had a condom on. If the condom failed is there a chance I could have gotten herpes? At no point was the head of my penis exposed and If the condom broke I'm pretty sure I would have noticed. Not sure though..

Yes it would not be indicative of herpes but only testing would confirm. Also you said you only did oral on her so your penis would not be an issue as did not have any exposure.

Hi, thanks for your response. I noticed you mentioned that the range for first time outbreaks is  3 to 13 days. The fact that this thing showed up on my tongue a good 9-10 weeks after exposure indicative that it's NOT herpes? Also the whte spot on my the head of my penis has been there for about a week and hasn't broken into open sores yet. Is that also indicative of it NOT being herpes?

Hi, you can get oral outbreaks on the tongue with the initial infection but herpes sores are not white but clear liquid. Recurrent outbreaks tend to occur on the lips. Testing negative at 5 weeks is not the best indicator but does have some value as could show a low positive. 6 or 8 weeks would be a better indicator. Just retest at the 3 month mark or have the sore swabbed but you need to have it done within 48 hours after appearing.
The range for first time outbreaks would be from 3 to 13 days or so, not so much at 5 weeks.
If you have a regular partner get tested for syphilis as well for their protection.
