Viral menengitis and major speach imparement

by monikaOHIO, Oct 26, 2009 09:48PM
My husband 31 was hospitalized with stroke like symptoms that lasted about 3 hours (numbness, nausea, speach issues, didn't know name, street, etc,) MRI, MRA, Cat scan, EEG - nothing. Went home with suspition of atypical migrene, 3 days later coudn't speak again (1 hour episode with nausea, light sensitivity).
7 days after got headache, started vomitting, got blurred speach, later making up words and dragged one leg... hospital again. MRI, cat scan, Xray - nothing, lumbar puncture showed viral menengitis. ICU for a day, it took 14 hours to get communicative skills back.
Went home without meds... a week later new attack (major speach impairment, no sense sentences, made up words, couldn't read, spell or write).
He is an engineer/programmer always eager to learn...
Will he ever get back to normal?
Anybody having simillar issues?
Monika
