About driving and rudeness

just a pet peeve, I am so tired of people being so agressive and rude and mean when driving, Like if you want to change lanes folks will speed up and not let you in, seems like driving brings out the worst in people..and i always crack up at stores I park in the first spot I see even if its far I got two good legs people will spend 5  or 10 minutes crusing to find a close spot and be agressive about that too, how silly,,,

I let one person "In" when they want over wont let two,, hows everyone else with their driving...also I admit I speed everywhere I go ,,stupid cause tickets are expensive and theres not a real need, just seems everyone is agressive when driving am I right?

I know many people take a class in defensive driving. I only get peeved when people do "offensive driving" lol. Its a matter of respecting the rules of the road and ignoring the rude person next to you. Some traffic regulations or ideas go too far. I don't feel "road rage" is a diagnosis. Its just a person with a bad temper behind the wheel. And I've seen signs up saying there is a $350 penalty for honking the horn when its not an emergency. I don't know who is not guilty of that. I have mixed feelings about the ban in N.Y. state on using cellphones while driving. People shouldn't do it and did cause accidents but should we have to legislate common sense? Never been physically able to drive but most of the people I knew who were good drivers respected the rules of the road and realized that there would always be people who didn't and just ignored them. That's probably the best thing.

Maybe I am lucky where I live and round southern California but I dont see much of this behavior, quite the opposite, if you have ever been to Europe then its an eye opener in extreme bad temper, driving in Englad can be a nightmare, they all rush around and the Men get so bad tempered and will yell at you out of their windows all the time ,if you hesitate, they speed a lot, if you go at the speed you are supposed to drive at they hoot their horns and give you a very rude finger sign...As I say CA seems to be great but they still use their cell phone at their ears....

I dont respond to rude drivers anymore. Its too dangerous.  I move out of their way if possible and let em go.  If they tail me, I turn my mirror so I can not see them flipping me or cussing me. And, speaking of stores and pet peeves. You know those scooters at walmart that are for handicapped people? It urks me when you see people getting them just cause they dont want to walk.  Then they come into the isle, you cannot get around them, or they want something from where you are getting something and they just sit there and stare at you, as if to say, get out of my way!  I told an old guy once that if he was any kind of man, he would get up and help me lift that thing into my cart. Otherwize, he could just sit there. He just continued to sit there. After he left the store, he pulled up to his car, loaded it, put the scooter back and practically ran to his car and drove off. I just stood there and watched with dropped jaw. He didnt even have a handicap sticker on the car nor was he parked in a handicapped space. Grrr!

When I see others driving erratically (speeding, cutting in & out, tail-gating etc), I try to keep in mind that I don't know whats happening in their life. Someone may be racing off to a hospital, school, home, because a loved one has been injured, or maybe they just got some devastating news....who knows what situation they may be dealing with. My feeling is give them the road to get where their going and pray they arrive safe and all is well.
Teen drivers speeding and blasting the "boom, boom, boom" stuff and Old people driving 5 MPH, who shouldn't be driving anymore...........well they drive me crazy!

Yeah, Cherie, I hear ya!!!!  I really get off on it, though!  Rather sick, huh????  I do have quite the sick sense of humor.  I admit that I've had a scare doing my "foot off the gas" routine when someone was riding my booty!!  I got followed, and got pretty freaked out.  I tested the driver by making a couple of turns to see if I was really getting followed.  I saw that I was, and drove straight to the police station.  At that point, the guy decided that he wanted no parts of the police station and backed off.  If anyone finds themselves getting followed, then let them follow you to the police station and they'll back off.

I gotta admit I have done some of the same as you, April is right though people are nuts and you could get shot so be careful...but the little devil in me gets a kick outta slowing down and getting next to another slow ( as in doing the speed limit) person when some freak is speeding trying to pass me..kinda mean yep but it makes me laugh at how mad they get !!!!

Yeah, besides, you never know, they could have a gun and just choose to shoot you if you irritate them enough! It happened here. Someone cut off another person and the other driver pulled over and motioned the other to pull over. When he walked up to the other car, the other driver rolled down the window to apologize for cutting him off and the guy walked up to the window and shot him in the face, point blank.
It doesn't pay to mess with angry people!

Responding to rudeness with more rudeness only makes the problem worse.  No point in trying to make people irate.  The world has plenty of irate and rude people already, no point in increasing the roll of bad drivers.  Its a shame so many people on the road are inconsiderate.  Sinking to their level won't teach them anything, and I would find it hard to respect myself if I did so.

Everyone, I am a nice and courteous driver......UNTIL someone starts getting obnoxious first  LOL  I am a vindictive driver-if someone is rude enough to put their brights in my face and they don't dim them when I blink my lights at them, then my brights will go on in their face.  They've got it coming!  AND, when I see some crazy lunatic in my rear view mirror acting like an idiot-speeding, impatient, weaving in and out of lanes-I will purposely block them by catching up to the slow person in the next lane.  I don't budge either.  I will not put up with someone riding my booty when I'm driving.  I go fast enough-usually 5-7 mph over the speed limit, so if someone's riding me then I will either slow up or purposely take my foot off the gas.  Boy, do they ever get irate!!  Oh well, my philosophy is an eye for an eye!

I, too, have noticed how down-right nasty and rude drivers are lately, ESPECIALLY in the larger cities. Man, you are taking your life in your own hands when you go out. Trying to get on the Interstate here is like playing Russian Roulette, sometimes I actually have to stop a few seconds before I can get on, and that scares me. Driving scares me anyway, and lately, I only do it if I MUST.

I know what you mean about the headlights blinding you, I think they are called "Halogens" and they are bright anyway, and when on high, they are murder.

I try to be so courteous when I drive, but sometimes, it is just not possible, I do not try to be rude, but sometimes it sort of just "happens"

I'm very sorry to hear that you get blinded very often. I believe that is horrible. :(

I believe that it is nice and courteous if drivers would dim their lights when ever they see a car approaching. Now I know that some drivers can accidentally forget to do that, but if someone knows they are on it would be nice if they would dim them until the approaching car passes. I try to do that every time I drive, but I'll admit that I did forget once so far, and I felt bad about it. :(

I also notice that.

I have my drivers Permit and I'm going for my Driver's License on Tuesday, May 12th. Whenever I drive, it seems like everyone keeps getting on my bumper and pushes me down the road. Now I can see that if I'm not doing the speed limit, but every time I drive, I do the speed limit or maybe only 5 MPH over it. Also I find that many people will also stay on your bumper during the night time and have their lights on high beam the whole way. That annoys me really bad, due to blinding me. Does any other people feel that way?

Oh yes! I notice it too. Drivers are much more aggressive anymore. I try to stay out of their way and tell my kids the same thing. I do try to let people in when I can and be a courteous driver. I worry about my kids, sometimes, especially now that I have a new driver out there. Yikes! That's why I pray a lot!
