vaginal discharge

Hi,
this is a question for my mom.
So she had this white discharge that she had for 2 weeks.
she hasnt really came out about till now because she was too embarrassed.
it has a really foul odor but you think it would be that type of smell.
she is 52yrs old. But now she said that it is starting to change to the color beige.
and she bleeds when she washes down there. She is going to call the doctor this week for an appointment but for now my diagnosis for her is that she has an infection. And if i am correct, will it turn into something dangerous later on if not taken care of ?

It does sound like an infection with the foul odor to it and the blood while bathing.  It's not unusual to have some discharge during perimenopausal hormonal changes but, the foul odor is not usual.  She'll likely have a swab done and cultured to see what's going on.  It could be that the tissues are irritated from the infection and causing the bleeding and beige colored discharge (often diluted brown/dried blood).  It's unlikely that it's anything serious but, only a doctor can tell for sure.
