AGAIN ?????

I can't figure this out.  How careful do we have to be ???   I have yet another E-COLI resistant bacteria , and don't know where to even go from here ?

I am doing everything possible, but obviously it is not enough .....sounds like this one is another IV drug application, I don't know what my GP will say, I just got the results, so he may call tonight or tomorrow.

Any suggestions, I know that Alex have suffered from these too..... a few weeks ago,,I was on Cipro for a different bacteria, ( more common with us cath/users) .....

I don't know how or what activate the e-coli, but they have made themselves at home, and can we EVER get rid of them ???

Frustrated,
Candy

I drink lemonade and have a water cooler in the house. I have not had an e coli infection since the 1990's. The one I had lasted six months.

Hi Candy,

I have just finished a course of Cephelexin for a UTI with E. coli. I also get them frequently & do everything I can. I have to do a MSU speci 3 to 5 days after the antibiotics to check if the infection has gone. Often it's not & I have to take more ab.

It has been suggested that I commence daily low dose antibiotics which is often done to keep the infections at bay. I am waiting to see at this stage because I'm not keen on this option at all. I take high dose Cranberry capsules as well. I don't know what else to do to be honest.

I'm so sorry you may need IV ab again. It is important to get the infection under control though. I had been sitting on my UTI for several weeks & I now know that was stupid of me. It feels a bit like being stuck between a rock & a hard place I know.

I can say that I was having UTI's as fequently as you at one stage but they did settle down for quite a while. So maybe this might be the last for a while.

Gentle Hugs on the way to you now.
Karry.
