You would be more than welcome x
No, but I could come bother you....I have free travel to the UK as well :-)
Ren
Hey you guys have fun and remember the rest of us!
Unless anyone would like to stump up air fare from the UK?

OH HOW I WISH I COULD JOIN YOU IN PERSON ! ! ! , but I'll have to settle with my spirit being with all of you... What fun this should be...

Oh is that tempting! It is only an 8 hour drive to columbus.
I just love cheesecake and to be able to meet some of the people on this forum in life would be great as well.
Of course I have yet to find a cheesecake that is better than mine. :) I am always trying to come up with new recipes for mine. The latest was a "banana pudding cheesecake". Used Nilla waffers for the crust, with sliced bananas folded into the filling.

Re-reading of those authors is a Very Common habit among their fans. Have you viewed the televised version of the M&L series? If not, I have VHS & DVD versions I can loan you if you like.
A little more Off Topic never hurts!
We have such similar reading tastes. I have the complete Lucia series and have read it at least twice. Coincidentally, I've just lent it to a friend who has had knee replacement surgery, and will be very interested to find out if she likes it.. You either do or you don't, and of course I do.
I'm also wild over PG Wodehouse.

essdipity: No, not Jane Austen, though E.F. Benson was a fan of Austen. I've belonged to a yahoo group called EFBenson since June 2000 - it was a carry-over from an email group that started back around 1994 (I joined that in '96).
I was also subscribed to the Tilling Society (out of Rye, East Sussex UK) from 1994 until the organizers retired in 2002 (after 20 years of doing it). There were yearly gatherings held in Rye - also known as Tilling in the Mapp & Lucia series of books (humorous stories following the same characters). There are still yearly gatherings in Rye, now organized by the Friends of Tilling. I've attended at least 7 gatherings in Rye ('95, '98, '99, '00, '02, '04, '06). There are many Jane Austen (and Trollope) afficianadoes among the Bensonites. :-)
Last year, I wanted to go again but, opted for my 50th high school reunion instead. I should have gone to Rye - Alexander McCall Smith was the guest speaker, he is also a fan of E.F. Benson and counts him as one of his early influences.
Sorry to have gone sooooo Off Topic here! Now, back to Ohio!! I'll be waiting to read a report of the gathering...
Hey PD, you can always call in sick! But we know you have had to use a lot of days for a variety of reasons this year. Ren was hoping you could make it.
Would love to, but the county's real funny about approving leave on short notice. Just had some fabulous cheesecake (made by my wife), though!
Even if you're going to heaven, you have to go through Atlanta first!

Hey guys, I'd love to jet set up to Columbus. I just checked the airfare and it would be 150 bucks, but have to go through Atlanta first. The total flight would be 5 hours including the layover. I think driving would be 6 hours total. Hmmm....Oh yah, can't drive. Well guys I hope you have a good time getting together. Wish I could join you. Maybe come meet up in DC some time where I would love to host you.
Julie
I'll bet you are talking about JASNA (Jane Austen Society of North America). Is this right? I'm a 'Janeite' from way back, and belong to my local group. Anyone else here have this interest?
I too would love to meet up with the Buckeyes, but I'm many hundreds of miles away.

Any of you who have the remotest chance of being there, grab it (would if I could, but I'm in MA). I know this is a group with ties via MS, but it will amaze you just how much else you will have in common. That's what is so much fun, besides putting faces to names - and, it really is a small world.
I have attended a number of gatherings with members of a discussion group of a different sort - literary, around a certain author & a series of books: in MA, ME, NYC, MS (when home in LA, visiting), SC (while on a recent road trip), & of course on the author's home ground in England. Some of us have 'known' each other online for at least 15 years - from all around the globe.
