Dizziness/Vertigo

I have had vertigo for over 5 months. I thought it was withdrawal symptoms from coming off hydrocodone and xanax, but it hasn't gone away. I just had an MRI with the results showing 1 cm focus of increased T2/Flair signal in the left parietal deep white matter is a nonspecific finding. I am in remission from Graves Disease. The radiologist recommended repeating the MRI with contrast. My GP wants me to see a Neuro Surgeon. I thought it was BPPV, and still think it is. My GP said the MRI showed no signs of the crystals in my ears being out of place, but can they see that on an MRI??? I just want to stop the dizziness! Can I try an Eplley's maneuver at this point? any ideas of what this could be and does it warrant seeing a Neuro Sugeon???

I agree with the above post, a good ENT and a good neuro is in order.  They can't MRI crystals in the ear!  That's crazy!!!

Hi hearttrace.  I would definitely try the Epley (with a therapist or at home, if you can maneuver your body that way - there are instructions on the web how to do it yourself) and see is that helps.

Interesting about the crystals showing up on an MRI.... were they imaging your ear canals?

Have they given you anything for the veritgo - antivert perhaps?  - it might help a bit.

A visitt to a good ENT or neurologist would be in order.

feel better,
Lulu
