Gilenya and a virus

Hi all!

I started Gilenya 4 weeks ago.  I now have a nasty virus.  Most people spend a couple of days down and out, but I am finding that I am still getting worse at day 5.  One thing that I noticed about Gilenya is that my normal body temp droped below 97.5.  With this virus, It registers "normal" or just above.  However, that means it is up more from my new normal.  Anyway,  I guesws that I should try to get into the doc.  Problem is, myregular phusician is an Intrunest and it is difficult to get into see her.  I usually just go to the specialists.  I have a gastero, ent, gyno, and neuro.  Whom do I call? :-)

There is one nasty spot in the back of my throat, and what I cough up is turning green.  UGGG  I am such a winey baby!  So far the 6 week old has not cought it! Praise God!

Best to all,
Ann

It appears that I have turned the page with this virus.  I cought it at church!  Anyway, I woke up this morning feeling much better.  No more snot, and verry little coughing!  I will watch out for a secondary infection.

Give your neuro a call in the morning unless you feel this is an emergency.  We know that gilenya is an immunosuppressant (sp?) and one of the concerns is being susceptible to every germ that comes down the pike.

I assume that the spot your are talking about is sore and the green stuff is phlegm that you are coughing up?  Both are good signs of a cold or sinus infection.

Your neuro can make the call and tell you to call your PCP if that is who needs to see you.

side effects from gilenya can be:
headaches
the flu
diarrhea
back pain
coughing
herpe infections
sinus infections
bronchitis
general weakness
dizziness
slow heart rate
and many more

you need to call your neuro right away.....and maybe ER visit. you have coughing and possible sinus infection or bronchitis....Don't mess around with this.

Please let us know how you are!

Have you considered this as a reaction to the Gilenya and maybe you should contact your neuro first and see waht he/she has to say about it. If you are feeling that bad then someone needs to know and whomever you call will put you in the right direction of who to contact and what you should do.

Maybe a trip to the ER is in order. The spot in your throat and the coughing up green is not normal.

Take Care and keep us informed of what is going on.
