Hand/Foot Weakness or One sided weakness?

Ummm... is it normal to have right foot/right hand weakness in MS?

I have been complaining of my right hand feeling weird for months now. It has felt swollen, heavy and stiff... I also have been dropping things a lot and sometimes it has felt like it's not moving right. When I weed it seems like it's strained and wants to cramp up.

My right leg/foot has felt similiar for nearly a year or more but at the last Neuro exam she did pick up on mild weaknees or foot drop.

Today, my right feels really weird... it feels muscle fatigued or weak (like I've been working it out) This all made me curiosu so I spread out my left fingers and tried to squease them together - there is quite a bit of tension. I did the same to the right hand - there is very little tension. There appears to be a clear difference between my left and right hand. My right hand is my writing hand, it should be stronger right? I don't think this is normal.

Is it normal with MS to have one sided weakness? I thought it would be a single extremity affected like my right foot but both right foot and hand???  Should I be concerned enough to bring this up at my next appointment?

Hi. This is absolutely normal in the world of MS. Please do bring it up, and anything else you consider weird, during your next neuro appt.

Best of luck with this,

ess

Thanks Ess, I guess I am still concerned it's ALS or something like that.

I have brought up the weird sensation in that hand but they have had me squeeze (I'll spell that right, now. lol) the two fingers test. I don't know if that is as accurate.

Where would the lesion be in order to cause right sided hand/foot weakness. I know! I know! I shouldn't try to find the location but I have a curious mind. ;)

Bump:

So, today I was pumping gas and my right hand could barely keep the the level tight for the 20 gallons and it STILL aches nearly an hour later.

I am also a bit concerned with the lack of muscle tone throughout certain areas of my body. I seem to have unusual  softness in areas like the baby carrier muscles and numbess in areas on my back.

Does anyone know where muscle weakness or these symptoms might stem from? Is in spinal cord or brain? Thoughts?
