Nerve Pain?

Hi everyone. I have, over the last few days, been having this "surface pain" on various parts of my body, I was wondering if anyone else get/has this?  I have had in on my back, shoulders, and both arms. It's as though someone had put a "half-dollar" in a fire, and get it as hot as it can get, and then sit it on my skin... it's a terrible burning-- it hurts so badly-- but thankfully it doesn't last too long. Maybe 30 seconds or so.  Is this something anyone else has experienced? I feel too lousy to look it up, and thought someone might know. Thank you. Denise

Hi

I have had this in different areas mainly my trunk and hip areas unfortunatly mine last for mths at a time, i have tried all sorts of drugs and some helped for abit and some didnt it went away fro about 6 mths but recently has come back around an area of numb skin but only from time to time now but its agony when it comes as it stays for days at a time.

As ess says the dr will sort you out with something for it.

What you describe is a paresthesia. There's lots of info on this in our Health Pages.

Treatment is use of a neuropathic medication, and many of our members are on Lyrica or Neurontin. For these to be effective you need to work up on them very gradually. Again, the Health Pages explain this in detail.

Talk to your doctor about this. There's a good chance you can get some relief.

Hi Denise, I have had somewhat of a similar experience.I woke up at 3 in the morning 6 weeks ago and felt as though half of my face was set on fire.It lasted 18 hrs. and then went away. A week ago it happened to me again. the same side of my face but this time it lasted only 13 hrs. and then went away. The only thing that I could do was put a cold rag on my face. I do not see my neurologist until Aug. so I haven't found an explaination yet. Maybe someone on this forum can tell us if they have had similar problems and if they were told what the cause of this is.. looking for answers also. Roncart
