Hello from the MIA purple flower

Hello,
I am Rendean (Ren) and have been a member of this forum since 2008. I have been diagnosed with RRMS after a 5 year hunt for the real culprit of my symptoms. Went through 5 neuros total and was finally diagnosed by an older neuro who learned to diagnose without MRIs because they didn't exist during his heyday.

My past work experiences in both the medical  field and the legal field help me answer a lot of unique questions but I am by no means an expert at either and I will frankly tell you "I don't know" and suggest who might have the info you need.

You haven't seen much of me over the past 3 months. I have had 4 hospitalization in 3 months and at many times no computer access. I have read a lot of your posts and look forward to interacting with all of you!

Ren

Hi Julie,

It's good to see your name n the boards. Like you  as things evolve I find myself reading the boards and answering the one s I am truly certain about my response, at least until  my brain clears with the electrolytes.

Miss you much!!!

Hello Tammy!

Very nice to met you. I , too, hope for better times ahead and slowly working at an immersion of myself back into the forum. Although, my appearances will spotty at best for a while.

Take care of yourself. I'm always available my sending a note  for a specific question, etc.

BTW, you asked about my neuro. He diagnosed me in 2009 but started treating symptoms  long before that. In 2009 I stared with Copaxone,  which caused too many huge welts and side effects.

After many trails and efforts, we decided to start Tysabri. With 4 hospitalizations since the start, wondering if it's worth these hospializaions.

The doc at the academic hospital, including many eager med students  are very interested in  my condition and side effects, etc. So we shall see.

Good to see a familiar face.

Hey Paula,
Of course I remember you! You have been struggling with diagnosis, symptoms  and just a plain busy life

Hope to get a chance when my head finally clears (it's at 99.9 now ) but I also neglected other paperwork, etc. so  for now those take precedence. I due reading the posts, just don't have the time to answer all of them yet. That's my eventual goal.

Take care. I saw the post about Copaxone welts. The arm sticks are the hardest. Easier if yu can get someone to do it for you. My kids delighted in being able to stick me , lol.

Take care,
Ren

Yes, we are very close vicinity wise. Sorry to say, I haven't been up to reading your program but did want to acknowledge your welcome back.

I will see you eventually in a more detailed fashion after I read all the profiles , one at a time.

Cordially,
Ren

Hello Sarah,
Sorry for the delay in answering you.  Have had little reminders of why I was in the hospital 4 times so the reading and answering is slow lately. I did see you did ER nursing in the past. Always nice to have more medical  folks around :-)

It is good to see you back too.  I have been MIA myself, but even though I don't post as much anymore, I do read the posts.  Hope you are on the upswing health-wise.  It will be interesting to find out what is causing the sodium loss.  Let us know what you find out even though it's not MS related.

Hugs my friend.

Hey Ren, welcome back! You have to stay out of the hospital...you don't want to become a repeat offender...oops...you already are. :-)

Onto your neuro.  So, when did you get officially diagnosed by him?  Are you saying that right now it's official?  That's a long time to wait if it's just now after 5yrs.  I'm glad that you found him.  I hope he want to continue to practice for a long time, so you can continue to go to him (since he's older).

I keep losing my potassium.  I wonder if it's related to your sodium loss. My mom had problems with potassium, too.  In fact, at one point they refused to do surgery on her to re-inflate her lung, because her levels had dropped to emergency levels or something like that.

Good to see you on here again.

Good to see you Ren.  I admire your will to get back here with us.  Understand you may not be up to lots of answers right out of the chute but we'll take any of you we are offered.  I'm just glad that revolving door at the hospital finally spat you out in this direction.

I'm thrilled you are working your way back to regular capacity. Your posts are always factual, supportive, and have that hint of humor when desperately needed!
