Do I have MS

I had a stroke 1991 paralyzed on the left side, had open heart surgerey on 1993, had a small hole in one of my valves.  Back then they had no MRI's.  So my question is I have to go have an MRI on my spine and head, they are checking for MS/tumors!  Because of my stroke could this bring on MS because my right leg from the knee down is numb and week, pulls down feeling and burning sensation!  I am tired all the time, seems like my vision goes blurey at times and get sharp pain in my eyes too.  Thank you Sheila Skaalrud

hi and welcome.  I'm glad you found us here and want to ask these questions.

I agree with Sarah that MS and the stroke are most probably two separate diseases.  Often the brain lesions caused by stroke and ischemic disease can look questionable but a good neurologist can tell the difference.

Are these new symptoms or are they just a continuation of ones from your stroke ?  We often forget that we can have more than one disease process going on , and it is quite possible to have heart problems as well as MS.  I hope the MRI results prove otherwise and they can find answers for your numbness.

Stay in touch and let us know if you have other questions,
Lulu

I don't think a stroke can bring on MS.  MS is a result of the Central Nervous System having problems, to put it simply.

Check the right side of the page for pages and pages of information on MS, yu will have to have lots of blood work done and mimic diseases ruled out.

If you are having vision problems, contact your eye professional to make sure you are being treated correctly for that.

You will need a neurologist to rule out MS

good luck
