Good picture of the brain....

I found a very easy to understand picture and explanation of the brain and it's basic functions.  I wish I was able to post the picture here for you to see, but have included the web site, so you can review for yourself.

I think this is a helpful picture, showing in easy to understand terms what areas of the brain do what.  This could be helpful when you get those MRI reports back where you do not understand what area of the brain they are talking about.

I hope that you find it helpful.  I did.

The Harvard site is much too complex to just glance at - you have to spend lots of time devouring the information.

Heather's referenced site is perfect for what I need to know right now.

They are at the two ends of the information scale and both serve a function for us all. I'm on the slow side this week and need it as simple as it can be made.  LOL

Somewhere I found a site that also links the spine lesions and bodily functions affected.  I'll post that too if I can find it again.

Thanks Heather, that is a simple and easy to understand pict.  These days, I need simple..haha  And yes I agree, it would be great to have this posted in the health pages.

Thanks, Laura, when I recuperate from Christmas I will check out this site better.  Right now I'm in the fog and can't retain much info.  See you talk about forgetting, just know you are in good company...hahaha

Hope you both had a wonderful Christmas and 2009 will be a great year for you and yours.

Hugs,
doni

I used that website you posted for many years.  It IS a great informative web site.  It helped me to better understand some of my lesions and the areas that they are in.

The web site I posted is pretty much for illustrative purposes for those that want a simple explanation of the brain locations and some of the areas responsible for certain actions.

Acutally there are many excellent web sites for just this thing.  I would have posted the picture from the web site I gave, but have yet to receive permission from it's author's to use the picture.  Having a picture of a brain, it's areas and it's purposes might be something good to put on the Health Pages.  Some people don't know to go on Google and search from there.  A picture on this web site would be useful in my opinion.

Have a great week dearheart.

Holiday Hugs,
Heather

Heather,
that is great for those of us who need it simplified.  I was able to take my MRI preliminary report from last week and immediately see my brain lesions are in the areas that affect my planning, movement and language.

For anyone who wants a more detailed view, here is a site I found last week.

http://www.med.harvard.edu/AANLIB/home.htm

The whole brain atlas gives detailed looks and identifies all sections of the brain.  Be sure to use the pull down menus.  There's so much there - you could become an expert on the brain just by using this website.  LOL

Thanks again Heather,
Lulu
