1st neuro visit, is this typical?

I waited longer then seeing my neuro....total time with him was 20 minutes....

after he questioned me about my sx, I did mention my memory really was that good today...the electrical type shocks in my right forearm and face, my bladder/bowel problems, heat intolerance, vertigo and fatigue

he asked me to touch my R and L index fingers together....I couldn't do it.  while my eye were closed he poked me with either a sharp or dull thing and asked what I felt. my left hand grabbed the table so I could close my eyes without swaying too much......he asked me to keep my fingers seperated while he tried to push them together...my right hand barely had resistance....I had my arms stretched and same thing with my right arm,...he asked me to follow his pen with my eyes

then he had me go out into the hall and walk down and come back,.... my right toes were catching the floor,.......I couldn't walk on my tip toes (right foot) my left could,... I had the problem walking on my heals.......after that back to the exam room and he started filling out paper work and said you need a MRI....I forgot to ask what type/strength....but I was I had to wait for the insurance to ok the mri while making the follow up appointment, but she said it would be in a tube.....I go back in late June

I don't know that I would call it typical - this was a very short appointment.  The important thing is you weren't dismissed and you get to move on to the next phase.  I hope the MRI gets approved quickly for you and  that it will yield more answers.

good luck, Lu
