I've had nightly and daily spasms in my legs, and sometimes hands and arms for 2 1/2 years. I'm on Baclofen for it. My potassium and thyroid are normal. I used to wake up with lots of night sweats, but I haven't in about a year, and I'm on the very edge of menopause (no cycles for up to 5 - 6 months).
Those spasms can last anywhere from 15-20 seconds up to 40 minutes (my longest so far). As you know, they're no fun!
I like Quix's description of cramps vs spasms in her Spasticity HP. I also know that leg cramps are very common perimenopause things. Maybe you have both? Just throwing that out there...
Yeah night cramps and Profuse sweating in the night, *****, i have had 6 constant nights of it,
last night again, I have to say my one legged chicken dance is getting very good, wonder if it will become a hit one day lol
My doctor has said my potassium may be low, just drew some blood yesterday to find out,
I really feel for you, and I hope you are feeling better soon

The neuro talk the other night had a question about Restless leg syndrome.... he said so many MS patients have the problem with their legs and it probably is spasticity and not the classic RLS. You should talk to your doctor about this.
Also talk with your regular doc about the perspiration - you might want to be tested to see if your are perimenopausal. Our hormones can really create havoc in all stages of our lives.

Hey Debs,
Yes to the waking up in leg and or foot cramps, though i dont sweat much normally and dont wake up perspiring. I go to bed with spasms in my left leg every night, havent stopped in over a year now, though it was only a few months ago that i added (just for fun, not!) the vibration in one spot below the knee.
The muscle spasms are all the time, doesn't matter if my legs are verticle or horizontal, same with the vibration though i do find it harder to ignore when i'm trying to sleep. I do find i pay more attention to the cramps that wake me in the night than i do the ones during the day, if i added them up, the day ones are more common than the night lol.
I was wondering if you dont have a thyroid issue going on, something is ringing a bell there but i cant recall the what, and whys of it, sorry!
Cheers......JJ
