i have a problem here

why dosent anyone belive me that i have ms and the doctor has disabled me from work. when they know people who have ms and still work? i dident ask for this to happen. i worked hard all my life and never ask anyone for nothing. i know how i feel and what i can do. they look at us like theres nothing wrong with us. i dont give up. ive been through brain tumors and have copd. i have found out that you cant get no help with your bills and ect if your spouse works or makes a certin amount of money. this isent fair. because my wife doesent make enouth money to pay the rent each month by her self. let alone pay the rest of the bills. it seems you cant be honest and get any help anymore. what can i do? ill be living on the streets next. what have i payed taxes all the years for? why do they live better in jail off our tax money than we do trying to make a honest living working? now i can see why theres so many people willing to be in jail then make a honest living. its all handed to them in a nut shell.this is wrong. any help here please. thanks

Hi Lenny,

We've not met yet, so albeit belated, Welcome!

It's because no two people with MS are exactly alike and most people are not educated on the facts of the disease and don't know any better.  Or, they are just insensitive.

So, some may think or even go as far as say "Oh, so-and-so has MS and works, why can't you?"

So many issues with MS are invisible.  It's best to not even try to convince anyone.  You don't owe anyone any explanation for why you are not working.

Take care Lenny, and don't let this eat you up or beat you down.  You are in the beginning phase of treating your MS and you don't need anyone setting you back.

See you around!

One of the toughest things for others to understand about MS is it affects each and everyone of us differently.  I may be able to work without any problems at all and you are unable to work at all.  We both have the same disease.  It is very confusing for us and for eveyrone else.

I am so glad you have an attorney to help you through the disability process. I'm sure they have already told you this, but I'll repeat it here - please be patient.  The hearing process takes time and issn't for the weak to go through.

Hang in there, ok?

hey lenny,

i tried explaining things to people and in the ned quit wasting my time and theirs.  they do not have a clue and you cannot change them to get a clue. you have enough on your plate to manage, let em go.

honesty is still a good thing! although in this country these days, being honest is being amongst a shrinking minority.

you've made it this far, zero reason to quit. let the attorney's do their job which will make time for you to do yours.

none of this is easy but you are not alone and have quite a few folks here climbing the same mountain you are. when you need a hand, they'll be here to pick you up, and when they need a hand, you'll be here to pick them up.

hang in there, you've persevered so far ...
