just a rant..maybe

I am just nuts today..the same old problem with my pharmacist.  They make so many mistakes and I am on the phone with them everyday and sometimes more than once.  I stay with them because I like the people but after spending a good portion of my day tryng to straighten out a simple problem with a med and trying to get a couple that I have been waiting for and I am out of I think I have had it.

I should not be doing their job for them...its going to be a ***** to switch over I think, but we will see.  I am  probably their biggest client too.

..will let you know if I make it thru this or not...

It probably depends a lot on the pharmacy.  I started this post and since then my pharmacist has changed.  He is watching my meds now for me and I appreciate it, I then check with my Dr

I think its actually part of a pharmacists job, they are very knowledgeable about drugs and not all the Dr's have time now.  So we need all the help we can get.

I am at a smalltown Safeway pharmacy and they change employees a lot at the pharmacy but they now have a very good pharmacist.  I can call him with questions when a Dr. is not available which is quite often now.  Dr's only work 8-5 jobs now, at least here, once they are gone there is no way to reach them.  No other Drs filling in for them usually and you are told to go to emergency.  Also, even in emergency they will not answer a simple question now, you must go in.  They are so afraid of being sued now.

I want to know sho gives the pharmacist the right to play doctor.  It ireally makes me mad when they try and lay a guilt trip on you for taking the medicine.  That is when I wish just one of my migraines on them.

hmmm, think will hang around that end of the store, and just "observe" people to see if customers look happy when they leave!  I know they don't when they leave my present location!

We have a rather small store, so perhaps......but thanks, you've given me some new ways to look at it.
gracious knows I need all the help I can get!

Sarah, the one at our Kroger's is very cold and impersonal.  But my mom and dad really like their Kroger pharmacy.  I think it can vary a lot!

Sarah,

I have a wonderful small pharmacy - one of those good neighbor pharmacies - this one  is inside an independent grocery story real close.  They are fast (never longer than a 5-10 minute wait thorough (never hada mistake in over 15 years with them) and they anticipate our refills and make sure they have the drugs on hand if they are special order ones.

If I'm lucky they will be around forever and I will never have to shop at one of those big box store pharmacies.  Good luck with the changes.
Lulu

Well, I am so glad we were able to rant a bit..

I actually changed my pharmacy after my post here, the whole damn thing  ! But my pharmacist called me and talked me into staying with them. He promised me the moon and the stars..lol ..and begged me to stay with them.  Seriously !

I just really like him and the main lady who works with him, they are almost like family.

He said the two of them will take care of me and noone else and will mail my meds to me if need them and can't get them.  They will see to it that I do not have to work so hard and they will do it for me.  He said I had not really complained much, I guess I am a nice complainer.  But I yelled a lot today for sure.

So I am staying with them....I stressed that if there were any more problems, I was gone.  And I got two gift certificates for $30.00 ea., one for me and another for my hubby.

Wow, action does get results !!

hugs, meg

I here you. It is enough to make you pull your hair out.

The whole managing of medications blows. It is s full time job. Then the Pharmacy Benefits Manager only lets me have nine of one script a month enough and 21 at a time of another so the Pharmacist gets confused. Mine also get confused because I have drugs that sound or are spelled the same. The Doctors on top of that will not get refills in a timely manner. The doctors also get confused. Sometimes I feel like saying the heck with it all and buying drugs from dealers. I get so angry as well. I got off my DMD because it got screwed up every month and I am only allowed one on line pharmacy.

In my case I have a small pharmacy not a chain and they are lovely. It is the rest of it that drives me nuts.

oh you are not alone in your quest......my pharmacy will put something on order that they don't have and not tell me, then the next time I go back, I get this huge bill and I didn't order it.........."oh we forgot to tell you" or they fail to look at my account to see that I won't pay more than $15 out of pocket due to my lousy insurance....and I have to stand in line to get a prescription and then turn it down because its $178...and they look at me funny.......like, doesn't everyone carry a platinum AE card......ha ha

I wear sunglasses all the time because they filled an eye presc at 5% every 2 hrs instead of 1% three times a day.......four years ago......lawyers won't touch it, not enough money in it for them....

you have to stay on top of your pharmacist.....for sure.
I now photo every prescription with my phone so I know what I droppped off and how many I dropped off!  So when they say "oh we didn't get that one", I just pull it up on the phone and say "this one".........only to hear "oh yea, we were out of that".......well when were you going tell ME.....

or their famous one where they quote me a price, I say fill it, when its done, its $50 higher and they won't honor their word....

Yep, fun, fun, fun.......sorry got off on a rant myself there, me bad
